Simple Salad to Accompany a Curry


  • 1 Continental cucumber (seedless preferable but can use normal or lebanese)
  • 2 Tomatoes (medium sized, firm)
  • 4 Spring Onions (can also use red or white onion)
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice (to taste)
  • Teaspoon of salt
  • Fresh chilli (2-4, to your tasting)
  • Fresh Coriander (bunch - for garnish)
  • Optional: Radish / horse radish


  1. Wash and dry vegetables and herbs (pat dry with paper towel)
  2. Dice cucumber, tomato and spring onion to cm size pieces
  3. Place in a salad bowl
  4. Finely chop coriander
  5. Add to salad bowl
  6. Add salt and lemon juice to taste
  7. Toss salad


All quantities of vegetables should be equal size and proportion i.e. 1/3 tomato, 1/3 cucumber and 1/3 spring onion.

To convert to a raitha salad, supplement lemon juice and salt with natural yogurt.
