Happy New Year! We hope welcoming of the new year finds you happy, healthy and not too hung over…
Us, well, we might be wavering between a semi-permanent state of food coma and grogginess at the moment from way too much good food!
Now we don’t know about you, but for us 2015 was a challenge, full of highs and lows, endings and beginnings, successes and failures, and a whole lot of love and wedding planning!
For us, one of the biggest achievement for 2015 has to have been finally starting Two Hungry Nomads after talking about it for so long (or rather, Janine badgering Denis about it for a few years). We have dreams on where we can take Two Hungry Nomads but are lacking a tiny thing called money at the moment. Regardless, we have started which is often the hardest part!
We almost lost our fur child in November after she suffered sudden liver and kidney failure. It was incredibly hard on Janine, as Kahlua (our dog) had been her companion for 13 1/2 years. Good news is she’s still with us and living it up in the lap of comfort, home cooked meals, and lots of cuddles.
On another note, Denis lost his job and due to the state of the economy in Perth has been unable to secure one for 8 months. It’s been hard on him, but from challenging times often comes something good (Two Hungry Nomads, lots of artwork, a possible change in career / direction!)
Biggest Lesson Learned
The biggest lesson learnt has to be as a result of the dismal economy here in Perth at the moment. It’s forced us to look within, to expand our minds, to broaden our thinking, and to look further then just Perth. You see, the beauty of the internet is that you can work with people from all over the world. You can also work from anywhere in the world. What a tantalising thought that is!

Well, we’ve certainly enjoyed planning our upcoming wedding (15 January 2016) together. It’s bought us even closer and shown us what we can do with little money, a dash of creativity, and odd bits and pieces we have lying around the house. Check out our paper flowers – Pinterest is a god send for wedding planning, we tell you!
It’s also given us something to look forward to – the start of our next chapter together.
How about you? How was your 2015 and what do you have planned for 2016?
